This autumn, Involve and its sister agency Mindmakers are launching the Generation Mix offer. John Mellkvist, PR consultant at Mindmakers, has been pushing the issue of ageism for some time and interest is growing. The need for companies to manage generational change is growing, and more people are striving to have a good generational mix in the workplace. Generation Mix combines Involve's long experience in internal communications with an employee focus and Mindmakers' excellence in PR and communications. Generation Mix helps companies meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Annicka Pärson, CEO of Involve, and John Mellkvist tell us more.
What is Generation Mix?
With Generation Mix, we want to make companies better at seeing, understanding, meeting and benefiting from all generations and thus maximising their potential," says John.
We have everything to gain by drawing on each other's differences and experiences and learning from each other. The employee is the business - people's strengths and abilities should be harnessed, regardless of age, role or position. We see today a stigmatisation of behaviours and expectations based on age, which benefits neither individuals nor companies, says Annicka. With Generation Mix, we are expanding our Employer Branding offering.
Businesses today face a major generational challenge that will become even more pronounced, with both widespread skills shortages and an ageing population in an increasingly digitalised labour market. The future requires more skills development and intergenerational learning. How can a mixed-generation workplace help to meet the challenges of the future?
A mixed-generation workplace creates greater basic security, trust and cooperation, less unhealthy internal competition and more learning across borders. It leads to more diverse problem-solving and better conditions for innovation, which in turn paves the way for a better corporate culture and more optimism about the future, as more people will see greater opportunities for personal development over time. All of this, properly packaged and communicated, creates strong employer brands that attract more talented individuals to the company," says John.
Mixed-generation workplaces are thus a way to both retain and attract employees and to ensure long-term profitability. But what can companies that want to become more "Generation Mix" do as a first step?
A first step is to raise the issue in the organisation and create insight, for example by bringing in John as an inspiration and lecturer. John is happy to lead roundtables or panel discussions as a starting point for this kind of work. Then Involve does a scan of everything from your internal attitudes and employer brand to your organisational conditions," says Annicka.
We'll help you look at your organisation through Generation Mix glasses! If you are interested in increasing the dynamics of working together, get in touch with us via Involves or the Mindmakers website, says John.
In early December, you will have the opportunity to listen to John Mellkvist and Annicka Pärson during our breakfast seminar on Generation Mix. Stay tuned for the invitation!
