TRATON

Business and human rights

Challenge

With its brands Scania, MAN, Navistar, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus, the TRATON GROUP is one of the world's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. The Group's product portfolio comprises trucks, buses, and light-duty commercial vehicles and it employs more than 100,000 people in 14 countries worldwide.

In 2022, the TRATON GROUP decided it was time to launch a new training program about business and human rights. Like most global companies, TRATON believes that they must take responsibility not only for their products, but also for society and the environment.

They also wanted to prepare for the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (SCDDA), which is now in force in Germany. This law requires companies like TRATON to fulfil human rights and environmental due diligence obligations both in their own operations and in their supply chains.

Solution

Together with TRATON, we developed a business and human rights training program for the Group, exploring the complexity of human rights through cases, films, dilemmas, and quizzes.

The objectives of the training are:

- Gain insight into the company's due diligence processes and relevant regulations.

- Understand the responsibility TRATON and its employees have to protect human and environmental rights.

- Know how to report concerns and suspected violations.

- Get hands-on training on how to act and think in tricky situations through dilemmas and cases.
